Leadership plays an integral role in the development of a person’s character. This means that leadership is one of the most important traits in the development of an individual’s character. In addition to this, leadership also plays a vital role in the overall success of a company. This is because a leader is not only responsible for the development of the team within the company but also contributes to analyzing the performance of its team members so as to eventually achieve the set targets of the company. The following paper will lay emphasis on my leadership strengths and areas of opportunity. In addition to this the paper will also provide a critique of the type of leader that I am and also aspire to be. Finally, the paper will also discuss at length my strengths and weaknesses on the basis of my self-assessment insights.

In regards to leadership, my opinion has always been extremely modern. This suggests that in regards to leadership I believe in more of a transformational style. This means that as a leader I prefer being approachable, accountable and creative. I believe that a leader is not only responsible for the performance of its team members but is also responsible for their overall wellbeing. This means that as a leader I must be able to take care of my team members, ensure that they are content with their work life and are hence diligently driven to perform better. This has made me realize that I prefer a transformation style of leadership. This also lays emphasis on the fact that I aspire to be a leader that is committed to meeting the goals of the company as a team rather than as an individual. This further suggests the fact that as a leader I believe in team contribution and hence prioritize team bonding above all.

This aligns clearly with contemporary approaches to leadership. This is because contemporary leadership evidently includes the input of team members in the decisions taken for the benefit of the company. A transformation leader believes in the team members and hence is open to new ways of thinking. This means that a transformation leader would more than likely embrace as well as except the ideas presented by the team members in regards to implementing new ways of working within the company. This aligns perfectly with the kind of leader that I want to be because I believe in working together rather than working individually.

On a personal level, I have realized that I have a number of strengths as well as weaknesses when it comes to leadership. In terms of my leadership strengths, they mainly include my ability to be an avid communicator. This means that my communication skills are not only good but also strong enough for me to consider them as strength. I have realized that I find it extremely simple to communicate my thought process and reach out to the people that I want to communicate with. In addition to this, another leadership strength that I possess includes my creative nature. I believe that creativity is an essential aspect of an individual’s mind. Creativity also enables an individual with the ability to think outside the box. I believe this is an important trait to have as a leader. This is because it will enable me with the ability to not only think in unique ways but will also help me keep my team as well as my company ahead of its fellow competitors. Moreover, another leadership strength that I possess is the ability to be a good listener. This evidently lays emphasis on the fact that along with being a good communicator, I am also an impeccably good listener. This aligns befittingly with the traits of a transformational leader as I believe in understanding people. This is necessary as it will help me understand the issues that my team members might face and come up with solutions accordingly. This entire evaluation has also helped me realize the various areas of opportunity that have opened up for me. This primarily brings to light the fact that on the basis of my leadership strengths I have the potential opportunity of enhancing my overall leadership skills[7]. This means that because I have good communication skills, I also have the opportunity to use those skills and seek lucrative opportunities for the company and eventually enhance their performance. Similarly, since my leadership strengths also include being creative, I have the opportunity to bring about a level of innovation in my work. Furthermore, on the basis of my leadership strengths, since I am an empath, I have the opportunity of connecting with my team members on a deeper level and hence retaining them. This is extremely essential for the company as it enables me as a leader to help create a workplace environment that is not only professional but also extremely efficient. In terms of weaknesses, some of the weaknesses that I possess include being impatient, needing help in time management activities and needing assistance when it comes to remaining calm in hyperactive crisis situations.

Transformational leadership theory suggests that a leader works with the team members by crossing their immediate self-interests. This means that the leader along with their team members help in establishing a vision that the company can work towards and identifying the various needs of the company that must be fulfilled. In addition to this, the theory also suggests that the leader is responsible for bringing about necessary changes within the way the company functions. On the basis of my self-assessment, I have realized that I have the traits of a transformation a leader. This is also because my traits align perfectly with the kind of leader I aspire to be. I have realized that not only do I have the ability to be creative and to think outside the box, I also have the ability to motivate my team members so that they can see the vision I’m working towards. This is an extremely common trait among transformational leaders. They believe in motivating their workforce and enabling them with the ability to seeing things in accordance to the vision of the leader. My ability to communicate and create strong bonds helps me inspire my fellow team members and also allows me to motivate them to perform better. This can be assessed from how I usually solve confusions within my team members while working as not only am I easier to communicate with but I also have the ability to understand what the other person is trying to say. This helps resolve team conflicts extremely quickly. In addition to this my leadership strength of being an empath goes hand in hand with the traits of a good transformation leader as they also believe in trusting the team members. For instance, I realized I was an empath when my coworker who was going through a hard time since a personal loss, confided in me and I did everything in my power to make sure that we could ease her professional workload so that she could take care of her mental health. This means that my trust and empathic nature goes perfectly with that of a transformational leader and hence would help me become the leader that I aspire to be. Finally, the theory suggests that transformation leaders have a willingness towards accountability and responsibility. This has helped me realize that on the basis of my self-assessment I have a keen interest in taking initiative will stop this stems from my need to be accountable and responsible for everything that I take part in. This means that my team members would not only be able to trust me but would also be able to rely upon me to get through difficult situations and crisis while working. This was brought to my attention when I successfully took initiative for my team to complete a series of activities at work to reach a bigger goal. My taking responsibility for my fellow team members helped me come to the conclusion that as a leader, I would not only help my fellow team members but would also be able to contribute to the company achieving their set goals and target.

Therefore, it can be said that on the basis of my self-assessment I have realized that the leader that I’m aspiring to be it’s similar to a transformation leader. 3.      I will also encourage team bonding through delegating tasks to smaller groups of two which would help me foster a relationship among team members where they learn more about one another and evidently understand the limits and potential of one another

4.      Finally, I will also encourage team meetings to be more casual so that everyone can bond without the hindrance of maintaining hierarchies. This will help me connect more with my team members and make my overall leadership successful

This can be resolved through taking feedback from team members in regards to the kind of activities they would enjoy. This will prove to the team members that their input is valuable and would further contribute to enabling team bonding

4.      My goal will be to create a team culture full of trust and reliance so that everyone knows they can rely on one another in a trusting manner

This situation can be resolved through fostering bonds within the team. This refers to the fact that team members will communicate with one another so as to forge bonds which will enable them to eventually trust one another to share problems that they might be facing professionally. These bonds will also help the company maintain its overall work force. This mainly suggests the idea that the employees of the company will be less likely to leave the company should they succeed in fostering bonds with their fellow team members which will eventually benefit the company as they will have a decreased employee turnover rate.

This will help me reach out to every member of my team and evidently make them feel comfortable enough to share their problems. This means that this strength factor will enable me with the prospect of understanding my team members on a deeper level.

I have the ability to be unbiased

This means that I can provide the members of my team with complete and unbiased solutions in order to ease their worries and eventually strengthen the bond among team members. This also brings to light the fact that my team members will know that they can trust my judgement to be productive and unbiased when it comes to solving issues such as team conflicts.

1.      I will strive to motivate my team members at all times through a variety of different activities. I will also make sure to set short term goals which would eventually help me motivate my team members to diligently work towards something and successfully achieve it.

3.      This will not only help the team function better but will also contribute to creating a dynamic that is efficient and works best for the company in achieving its set goals and targets

4.      This goal will not only help in elevating the company’s position in its designated industry but will also enable the members of the team to have a considerate work place environment which will help them work better.

This can be resolved by holding a meeting with the team members to understand their expectations in regards to incentives. This will further better the bonds among the team leader and the team members as we would both understand one another and figure out a middle ground in terms of working together in such a way that we remain motivated and driven.

The team members might not feel content enough to perform their best

This can be resolved through helping team members seek training for developing their skill set and eventually design their own preferred work place environment that will drive them to enhance their overall performance. This also illuminates the idea that by providing employees with the opportunity to develop their personal skill set, the team leader is bound to come up with a successful way to motivate them and hence enhance the overall performance of the company in their designated industry while maintaining their employee turnover rate.

This will help me come up with unique ways to appease the members of my team and evidently motivate them. This also lays emphasis on the fact that through my creative ways, I will also be successful in motivating the work force to implement innovation in their works which will further benefit the overall reputation of the company against their fellow competitors.

This means that as a member of the team and their leader, I will take full accountability when it comes to handling my team members and finding ways to motivate them. This will help as they will know that they can depend on me and that I am reliable which will further help my team members to connect with me and align with my chosen style of leadership.
