Discuss About The Oriented And Leadership Employee Performance?

It can be stated that great leaders generally comes with great flavors. It has been meaningful endeavor in trying to clarify the frequent qualities of the well-liked leaders, reliable outlines have remained indefinable because if there is one great thing these leaders can be counted to do is to rupture the pattern. This paper would take into account the leadership qualities of Jack Ta, a Vietnamese Immigration Lawyer who has been over the years helping the community if Vietnam with several cases of migrant, enabling him to win the trust of the people of Vietnam. Leadership is important not only in case of organizations but also in larger communities that settle down in foreign countries to earn money or for the purpose of education. For that immigrant lawyer plays an important part in the lives of the people who think of settling down in other countries for the same. Leadership is significant where people look upto someone to guide them in matters of complexities and where they need valuable advice from someone they can trust on and believe in times of difficulty. Jack Ta has been such a man who has been able to win the trust of his community people through some good work and advice where people seek his suggestion in matters of high concern.

If the people of Vietnam are being told about Jack Ta, they would recognize him at the first go and even understand the things he has done for the community along with the thing he does. Ta Quang Huy was set up in Victoria which has gradually flanged its wings over the suburb community of Australia and Vietnam. The way Ta Quang Huy has been operating over the years speaks volume about the leadership quality of Jack Ta. He has been visionary and instrumental in channeling the path of the company towards success. Like a true leader, distance has never been an issue for this man; he has been there for anybody and everybody who has needed his help. He has been a task-oriented leader which is been closely related to the style of autocracy. The task oriented leadership is mainly based on the tough emphasis on completion of work along with the deadlines (Kapoor 2017). People who have been using this style have a tendency to develop a planned workplace that has clearly defined schedules, assignments of tasks along with the deadlines.

Jack Ta – The Task-Oriented Leader

Like true and great leaders, Jack Ta too has this uncanny knack of influencing and motivating people. He being a lawyer does not signify the fact that he does not possess the traits of business people. Task-oriented leaders need to maintain an elevated standard of performing (Homan et al. 2014). Jack Ta has been same, always showing interest on luxury cars and clothes. They expect their employees in delivering the desired results within the stipulated timeframe. Through the driving of a high task prominence, these leaders provide little or no time to their employees for chatting idly or even goofing around (Johnson 2017).

Time management is another factor that has been impressive about Jack Ta. It happened once when he made understood in the best possible way how everyone should manage time so that the deadline is not missed under any circumstance. His emphasis has always been on the things that an individual prioritize and according to that individual’s prioritization he should be going about his business (Donate and de Pablo 2015). He has been that sort of a leader who has taught his fellow people the importance of time and the ways to segregate things when one has to deliver many tasks at a single point of time. Seeing him people would get to learn lot of things. The way he prepares himself before the case, staying up late and preparing for the case law and then again waking up early in the morning with everything and getting ready for the court proceedings even now proves the dedication of the man towards his work. This is the sort of man or leader one should idolize at his workplace and even in personal life.

He has been task-oriented but he has never let go the importance of relationship building, gathering trust of the whole community and influencing people to perform their tasks in the best possible manner. He has been supportive not only to his clients buy also to the junior attorneys, keeping an open door for all and giving enough importance to the same. That philosophy of leadership along with the support expands from the conversations in the office premises to the attorneys gearing up to argue within the courtroom (DuBrin 2015).

Having a task-oriented leader is highly beneficial for the organization. Jack Ta has been highly logical, methodical along with having a good sense of understanding on the ways of getting the job done through focusing on the essential procedures at the workplace (Fayyaz, Naheed and Hasan 2014). Jack Ta has this ability to understand a major task might take in several frequent smaller tasks and can entrust the work consequently for ensuring the fact that everything is being done in the best of ways. He has been one task-oriented leader who has given enough importance on relationship building. He understood the fact that productivity is supreme in meeting the goals and following the path whether within an environment of business or otherwise. Positive productivity can only be attained if the employees are being made to work within a positive environment with the individuals feeling driven by a certain thing (Gregoire and Arendt 2014).

Leadership and Relationship Building

Jack Ta has been blessed with effective skills of communication, a trait that works well with his style of leadership. His well-versed communication style gives him the opportunity to mould people within the courtroom and also bringing out the best from his employees. His clear skills of communication provide him with the edge to make his employees clearly understand the role and responsibilities they need to play (Mehta, Maheshwari and Sharma 2014). This sort of task-oriented leadership style is suitable for the process of law enforcement along with the manufacturing of the lines of assembly where repeating of the well-defined procedures usually upshots at high levels of quality along with productivity (Dinh et al 2014).

The second stage of this report states the interview of Jack Ta and what he thinks about leadership and what according to him are the qualities that a leader should have in order to be successful within an organization and even in the community life. !5 questions have been asked to Jack Ta and he showed enough patience in answering all those questions about his perception of leadership.

Q1. What are the significant values that you demonstrate as a leader?

Jack Ta: The most imperative value that I believe any leader should have is integrity. I have all my life demonstrated honesty along with trust in all my actions for establishing credibility as the leader. Through this conviction that I have behind my actions and words, the people whom I have been leading are buying into the direction I have been taking them.

Q2. How have you being able to gain commitment from the team?

Jack Ta: I have been gaining enough commitment from my team through the persuasion of setting off detailed objectives and also buying into the process. Once they have been able to institute cohesion and collaboration, they are on board for the purpose of attaining of the goal.

Q3. What is the difference between a Team Leader and Team manager?

Jack Ta: For me, a manager is generally able to deal with the tasks along with the responsibilities and ensuring that the work is being done by others. A leader would be inspiring and motivating their team in achieving their goals. However, it is important to make people understand the importance of deadlines.

Q4. What are your strengths?

Jack Ta: I have been trying to lead and motivate not only just a team but the entire Vietnamese community in giving their best shot along with attaining their personal and professional goals. I have been striving hard in doing all of these through building relationship, being passionate about the whole work process and influencing those who are around me.

Effective Communication and Task-Oriented Leadership

Q5. Any weaknesses that you might want to share

Jack Ta: While delegating the duties to others which I know I could handle them in better way. However, if I am not delegating them duties, I would end up with more tasks than I could ever imagine of. I give a lot of emphasis on time management these days as I myself have done courses on time management and learned the ways of efficiently delegating the tasks for overcoming this sort of weakness.

Q6. How do you get others to believe your ideas?

Jack Ta: I generally talk about the benefits that can be associated with the ideas and the ways it can be applied. I try and stay open to other thoughts as well and alter my ideas in such a way where all can concur. It is important to gain a buy in from others; a leader is tending to be much successful in achieving the goals instead of making it obligatory in following the process.

Q7. How frequently do you feel the need of meeting with your legal team, especially the junior associates?

Jack Ta: There is high need of meeting with the team at least once in a week on a set time as communication with team members is critical and so too is getting along together on regular source about the issues and challenges that the junior associates have been facing in the cases. A new case always calls for discussion with the associates as everybody should be on the same page. My goal has always been to bring the team together as that is where success lies for a leader, if at all I can consider myself to be one.

Q8. Any moment when you took the position of a leader though you were not considered one?

Jack Ta: There has been few to go along with, but I will share with you an instance that happened way back in my college days. While pursuing my law from college we were being put into groups and had to complete a project on law case study. We had to prepare a 12 page paper along with 15 minutes of presentation on a case on immigration that happened in Vietnam. I took the idea among the group members in leading to a discussion on how the work would be split up, the time we would be meeting throughout the semester and the deadline for each person’s component of the work. For the fact that I was the one who took the initiative in leading the discussion and had a plan, I was able to gain the buy in from other members. It was way back in 1997 when the email services have started popping up. I ensured everyone in the group had their own email address and then created a group email for helping us in keeping track of the progress we were making with the case study. This creating if group email ensured we could help each other outside the class proceedings and meetings. By the time we delivered our case study report and presentation we were able to achieve around 90 per cent marks.

Interview with Jack Ta – His Perception of Leadership

Q9. How you go about getting consistency within a team who disagree?

Jack Ta: It happens sometimes but a leader should be able to find a common ground between the disagreeing members. I try and remind them of the significance of the overall goal along with the implications if we cannot stand together to attain it. It is important to come and work together to an agreement that is win/win for both the parties. Until and unless a leader is able to bring people to a common table he can never be successful. It is important for a leader, moreover who is a leader to have the negotiation skills.

Q10. What kind of leader would your team or community say that you are?

Jack Ta: They have stated me as a task-oriented leader who believes in completing tasks on the given deadline which is important in retaining client and bring in the goodwill for the associate. I have tried and helped them in their goals and successes. They would portray me as someone who would clear their way in case of any issues and challenges. They know I have always had their back.

Q11. How do you set an exemplar to those within your team?

Jack Ta: I try and perform my best at everything and make sure that my actions are matching my words. My team knows this well that the expectations I have been setting for them are the same that I put on for my part too.

Q12. What according to you is the toughest part of being a leader?

Jack Ta: In certain ways, though you are part of a group, you tend to be alone. It is the responsibility of the leader in seeing the end goal along with the vision of an organization in leading others towards it. It might happen many times that others might not see it in the same manner; the leader has to be the lone voice in bringing them back on the track.

Q13. How have you been able to lead through change?

Jack Ta: As a leader, it is important that he is the first one to hug change because if he does not, then the others around him would never. There have been times when Ta Quang Huy and Associates have gone for a change as a law firm taking in new plans and policies or cultural change. I make sure I am able to communicate this sort of changes with confidence that it is the correct path to implement. I prepare myself by making sure that I can answer any questions that are being shot towards me, or have the resources atleast in finding the answers. I try and lend my ear to every concern that is being raised about the change, helping them through the transition phase.

Q14. What is the best asset of a leader?

Jack Ta: The capability of the leader in motivating and inspiring a team who can work jointly in attaining the firm’s goals.

Q15. What motivates you being a leader?

Jack Ta: I am highly motivated by the growth of my team along with the attainment of their professional and personal goals.

Dealing with the complexities of work has started becoming one of the major development issues in leadership. This has become a challenge that has ethical inference. As our work is becoming more complex, so do our dilemmas ethically. Being honest to oneself is important and that is what I have learnt from Jack Ta from the small discussion that we had during the interview process. We may want to lead in dependable manner but still resist in making the ethical decisions in situations that are highly complex. It would help if I am being able to develop the skills of thinking for navigating the situations more easily.

Jack Ta’s influence has been much on me for which I too want to be a task-oriented leader who has the ability in doing things proficiently and meeting deadlines. Jack Ta has been able to generate apparent along with easy-to-follow schedules of work and deadlines. This leadership would help me in maintaining higher standards with optimal competence like Jack Ta. In certain situations and organizations, junior associates and employees require structure who generally struggle with managing of their work generally works best under this leadership style. However, according to my observation of Jack Ta, though considers himself to be a task-oriented leader he focuses more on the people-oriented style of management.

While going with the process of interview, I observed that his answers were more towards upholding of the highest level of morality in the office. Task-oriented leadership can sometimes lead to lack of employee autonomy along with creativity. I have sometimes felt it myself that working under the strict deadline along with extreme task direction bring down the company culture. Self-motivated employees tend to revolt under such working environments. Jack Ta has been an experience campaigner who has the ability in energizing employees and making them feel appreciated for the work they execute. Jack Ta has maintained his task-oriented leadership style for his associated not to miss any sort of deadline, something that I have found interesting, so that they understand the importance of time management. I have learnt this to manage things as per the priority of the tasks in hand. However, with Jack Ta being little tilted towards the people-oriented management style (which I have observed), he focused on relationship of his associates that would make them feel they can make a difference to this law firm.

In undertaking this assignment I have learnt a lot about the leadership qualities of a man that I idolize. It has been amazing to hear from the man himself about his perception of leadership. Tome management has been my biggest gain while I went about with this assignment. I had so much of issues in prioritizing my works, ending up with missing deadlines. Jack Ta has helped me with this; I have become more sincere, harder working along with being more motivating. I have been taking initiatives in my class on few things which I have observed to be the important trait of a leader.

Conclusion:

This paper has been able to discuss on the leadership attributes of the task oriented leader and the ways he has been focusing on the people oriented management style so that his junior associates and other employees of his law firm do not find it difficult to work with the required freedom. A full interview intercept has been provided exactly the way Jack Ta, the leader under discussion ahs answered the questions. This man has been fruitful in inspiring many with his vision, time management skills and motivating factors.
