Stakeholder Identification

Schools for Life is a college in Florida that was set up three years ago. There is a fund-raising program that is carried out twice a year and the staff members send mails to the alumni to request them for the donations. There are personalized letters developed by the staff members using the word processors and personalized database. The data storage and management is also manual. This brings up several issues for the college and the Head of the College has decided to implement a computerized alumni information system.

Stakeholder Identification

There are several stakeholders that will be associated with the project. Some of these stakeholders may be internal to the project while the others may be external. The stakeholders have been identified and have been placed on the basis of internal or external to the project and their role as operational or executive (Pacheco and Garcia, 2012).

Stakeholder Interest

As the Head of College, I want to get the computerised alumni information system implemented in the college so that the manual processes can be automated.

As the Head of College, I want to get the schedule and budget estimates for the system so that the project can be successfully implemented.

As the Head of College, I want to get the support services implemented in the system so that the alumni members can easily interact with the staff members of the college and there are maximum funds raised (Ayuso et al., 2012).  

As the Staff member of the college, I want to have an automated database implemented in the system for the easier handling of the data sets.

As the Staff member of the college, I want to have automated templates for the letters implemented in the system for the quicker and faster handling of the mails.

As the admin of the college, I want to obtain auto-generated reports on the funds and donations for better handling of the funds.

As the admin of the college, I want to have the alumni details extracted from the database so that the engagement levels with the alumni members are maintained.

As the technical resource of the college, I want to have secure login option implemented for every user type for better access control (Kipley, 2008).

As the technical resource of the college, I want to have security protocols implemented in the system for enhanced data protection.

As the member of the project team, I want to receive project business case and requirements so that the system can be developed and implemented as per the customer expectations.

As the supplier for the project, I want to have the set of tools and equipment so that timely deliveries can be made.

As a member of the regulatory agency, I want to have the compliance report received every week so that the project compliance can be assured.

As an operational subject matter expert, I want to receive project progress report every week to provide required guidance and support.

As a technical consultant, I want to receive technical requirements of the project to carry out technical feasibility.

How is the data handled in the current system? Are there any issues witnessed in the current data handling tools and processes?

UML Modelling Tools

System design is one of the necessary aspects that shall be followed along with system analysis. There are numerous Unified Modelling Language (UML) modelling tools that have been developed for better system analysis and design.

Two such tools are argouml and LucidChart. The comparison between the two tools has been shown in the table below.

The two tools have been compared with each other on the basis of different parameters. The tool that has been found apt for the organization is argouml. The decision has been made on the basis of the ability of the tool to fulfil the requirements of the project along with the ability to meet the financial and budget constraints. The tool is an open source tool that can be accessed for free of cost. On the other hand, there is a subscription fee associated with LucidChart. There are also several features available in argouml, such as platform independence, supports xml, 9 UML diagrams supported, forwards & reverse engineering, diagram editing, and several language options. The system requirements for computerized alumni information system will be easily plotted using the UML tool.
