The concept of waste management incorporates all the activities require to manage waste from the initial inception stage to the final disposal. There are tons of wastes produced from various sectors of the society starting from household waste to the corporate waste materials (Hoornweg & Bhada-Tata, 2012). Earlier, this concept was followed by every government and the wastes were only considered as the dump able materials that can produce no benefit for the society. However, the recent development of the technology has led everyone to have a second thought about the waste materials produced.  The wastes are now classified under several categories that are solid, liquid and gaseous waste (Guerrero, Maas & Hogland, 2013). This can be further divided into recyclable and non-recyclable waste. The non-recyclable wastes are the wastes that are unable to produce any further good to the society and the society is liable to dump them. However, the recyclable waste could be use to extract further benefits (Ramos, Gomes & Barbosa-Póvoa, 2014). For example, the plastic bag has no further use and should be disposed in a safe place that can cause to further harm to the society. Whereas, the bio wastes such as the vegetable extracts can be utilized for preparation of bio gas or fertilizers. There are only a few organizations operating in sorting these waste materials according to their classification and usability and even fewer that uses these materials for generating energy out of it. Hence, the situation demands an organization that will sort the domestic waste accordingly and use them for generating thermal electricity. Bio Energy Limited is the proposed company that will operate in this proposed sector in the geographic borders of Australia. This report will highlight the proposed company’s profile, statement of the need, mission and vision statement, importance and role of the manager for strategic planning, and organizational structure. The final part of the report is comprised of lea system, job evaluation process and worker’s motivation for improving the organizational performance using the mentioned concepts.

The proposed name for the company is Bio Energy Limited that will be operating in the Australian boundaries. The company will be collecting domestic wastes from the households and sort them according to the categories of waste proposed by the NSW (waste management. (2017). The further operational area of the company will be focusing on the energy generation from the waste materials by burning them in new high-tech furnaces (Wiedinmyer, Yokelson & Gullett, 2014).

Work required to achieve the objective

The purpose of the mission statement is to define the company’s business, its objectives and the approaches taken by the company to meet the goals. Vision statement on the other hand explains the desired position of the company in near future. Both are more or less similar and can be considered equal.

  • The company seeks to enter the energy industry taking a different approach than the rest.
  • The company wants to reduce the waste materials produced and release the overloading waste dumps.
  • Become the first company in Australia to produce energy out of the waste material in considerable amount.
  • The company wants to become Australia’s first and number one organization to produce considerable amount of energy to support a minimal segment.
  • Expand their operation around Australia by 2020
  • Expand their operation in the international market by 2025

It can be considered as a system that is implemented to identify the function and the work requirement for attaining the goals and objectives of the organization. It defines the hierarchical structure within the organization. The purpose of the structure is to establish the process of operation and assist the organization in obtaining its goals allowing them for attaining future growth. There are several types of structure that are followed by various organizations. They are:

Traditional hierarchy – The power flow in this type of structure is vertical and upward and the employees are departmentalized. All he employees are bound to follow a single chain of command.

Flatter organizations – This type of structure has no concept of middle management between the staffs and executives. The workers have to report directly to the manager.

Flat organizations – This type of structure has a few or no middle management between the staff and executives (Types of organizational structure. 2017).

Holacratic Organization – Holocratic organizational structure decentralizes the management and organizational governance and involves multiple level of management. The ground level workers cannot access the top level management directly and has to report to their immediate superior (Ashkenas et al., 2015).

Horizontal Structure – The organization that follow single authority but have multiple departments fall under this structure. The departments operates individually and reports directly to the team of the chief executive offices. This is a centralized structure and helps the organization to maintain control over decision making.

The business proposed is likely to have several level of management as the work is divided into various departments. Hence, the horizontal organizational structure will be best suited for this type of business. This structure properly communicates the role of their employees and responsibilities within the organization. This centralized command enables the manager to control and design everything related to the organization (Fan, Wong & Zhang, 2013).

The company as a startup can use this organizational structure in their initial stage for gaining rapid growth in the market. Sooner or later, they will need to change their organizational structure to a more decentralized one as they are planning to expand their business. The following part proposes a possible structure for operating in Australia.

Division of work and task function

The proposed figure demonstrates the hierarchy of the authority that will run the organization. Every department will be directly reporting to the team of CEO. All the decisions in the organization will be taken by the team. However, the departments can propose their view for the development of the organization and better handle the workplace situation.

The objectives and the goals of the organization have already been set and this will guide to form a business model which will help to analyze the cost structure and the revenue generation streams of the organization. The business model frame work will include all the necessary activities performed by the organization. The organization will have to identify a suitable location for the plant which will facilitate the generation of energy. The organization will have to monitor the environmental waste and collect them. The organization will have to follow the footsteps of the multinational organizations in this sector to identify the equipment required for the plant (Sadef et al., 2016). The plant will need to have a strong infrastructure with the latest technological equipment which will help to generate enough energy to provide electricity to 16000 households in Australia. The organization will have to abide by all the rules and regulations in the industry so that they do not face legal problems in commencement of the plant. The organization will have to focus on their immediate goals so that they can maintain their sustainability in the market. This will enable the organization to fulfil their desired objectives if they keep on monitoring the various processes in the industrial chain.

The work will be divided in various parts such as human resources, engineering and planning, management and marketing, finance and accounts, operations, information technology, services and utilities. The human resources will recruit the employees that are needed for the operation of the plant. The human resource which consist of the industrial relationship department which will help to maintain the relationship with the workforce in the overall industry. The engineering and the planning section will be divided in to three parts which will include engineering operations, maintenance and planning. The operations will handle all the operations and control the execution various processes (Nizami et al., 2015). The maintenance department will conserve the various machineries and the infrastructure of the organization. The planning department will plan the overall execution of the project and how the expansion of the organization is going to take place. The management and the marketing team will manage all the activities in the organization and will promote the organization to gain clients in the market. These financials and budget of the organization will be monitored with the help of the finance and the accounts department. The information technology will be the one who will be keeping the automated system up to date so that the productivity is not hampered. They will create and enterprise resource management system which will help to monitor all the processes in the plant.

In order to maintain a proper running of the plant, the organization will have to hire capable individuals in the organization. The organization will have to hire management officials who will manage the human resources, marketing, finance and operations of the organization. The management will help to manage all the procedures in a smoother way (Ouda et al., 2017). The organizations will need skilled engineers who will monitor, plan and maintain the overall plant procedure. The organization will have to hire other lower level workers who will provide support actions in trhe organization.

The organization will follow a formal organizational structure which means that the organization will consist of the hierarchical system. This means that the management team will have their own level of hierarchies and at the same time the engineers will have their own sets of hierarchy. They will report to their respective officers at a given point of time and the chain will continue (Bahk et al., 2015). However, the organization may include informal structures within the departments which will applicable based on the situation.

The operational of the plant will consist of supply chain management and logistics. The supply chain management is one of the most important part of the organization as it will help to maintain the productivity in the organization. The plant consists of numerous machineries and various parts. There are lot of parts whose longevity is very less and there are certain parts whose longevity is high. The organization will have to keep an inventory of the items in the list and this will help to manage all the emergency situations in the plant (Mafakheri & Nasiri, 2014). However, as these parts are very expensive it is necessary for the organization to understand the requirements. This will help to reduce the unnecessary expenditure of the organization and help to maintain a proper inventory which will help in hazardous management. The organization will have to maintain their logistics which will include inbound and outbound logistics. The inbound logistics will include all the primary activities in the organization where the outbound logistics will include all the secondary activities in the organization. The primary activities will include transport, delivery and storage of goods and raw materials for the organization. The secondary activity will include the technological support which will help to increase the efficiency of the system. The operation will continuously monitor the processes which will help in the improvement of the business model of the organization (Kalyani & Pandey, 2014).

In operating in the contemporary business scenario, business orgaizations have also to consider the internal management by effectively managing the effective managing the human resources in the organizations (Armstrong & Taylor, 2014). This is due to the reason that, Bio energy limited will have various competitors in the market and thus it is important for them that all the employees will be equipped and trained to face the organizational challenges in the future. In addition, the more will be the diversified skill set of the employees, the more will be competitive advantages for the organizations (Campbell, Coff & Kryscynski, 2012). Thus, bio energy limited will also initiate several measures to enhance the level of motivation of their employees along with enhancing the effectiveness of their process of production. The following sections will discuss about the various measures and concepts that will be used by them in improving the internal management.

For the contemporary business organizations, one of the key measures to enhance the effectiveness of the production process as well as the profitability is to reduce the waste of the production process (Dennis, 2016). The less will be the generation of waste from the production process along with identifying the unnecessary process being involved in the production process. To implement the effective process of lean system in the production process, bio energy system will identify some of the key areas in their process of production, which are of no use.

  • The motion or movement of the internal stakeholders including the managers, supervisors and the employees in the internal organization including the manufacturing unit will be controlled and regulated. This is due to the reason that, the less movement of the employees will help to reduce the time incurred in unnecessary operations. The less time they will allocate on their movement, the more time they will have to give to their core activities. Thus, the effectiveness of the organization will be further enhanced.
  • The time incurred in moving the core activities to one production process to another will also be reduced. In addition, the time, which is being involved in changing the shifts of the employees in round the clock production process, will also be reduced (Estryn-Behar & Van der Hejiden, 2012). This will help to enhance the rate of production without being incurring extra cost. Automation will be involved and initiated in order to increase the speed and accuracy of the change in the shift of the employees along with reducing the gap between the movements of the activities from one production process to another. Various initiatives such as initiation of the effective timing between the shifts of the employees will help to reduce the time incurred. The timing of the shift of the employees will be designed in such a way that, the next batch of the employees will start their work before the end of the shift of the previous batch of the employees. Automation will be involved in the movement of the activities from one process of production to another. It will be designed in such way that the activities will automatically be moved to the next process of production without waiting for the consent of the employees. Thus, the time will get reduced.
  • The regulation and controlling the defect in the production process will be initiated in order to reduce the occurrence of the defects in the process. Six-sigma method will be used in order to initiate the quality control (Hilton & Sohal, 2012). Thus, the less will be the defect and the depreciation in the production process, the more will be the effectiveness of the process of the production. Moreover, the profitability of the organization will also get increased due to the initiation of the quality control activities.

In effective management of the human resources in the organization, bio energy limited will involve effective process of job evaluation for their employees. It will help in effectively determining the requirement and performance of the employees along with recommendation various steps to enhance the productivity of the employees. Various measures will be involved in the process of job evaluation for the employees.

  • Employee feedback mechanism will be initiated for the internal management. The employees will be provided with feedback forms periodically (Dumitrescu, Cetina & Pentescu, 2012). It will help the employees in providing their opinions and suggestions to enhance their workplace. Thus, it will help the organization in determining the requirement of the employees along with identifying the areas for improvement.
  • Effective channel of communication will be initiated in the internal organization. It will be designed as a two way process, which will further help the organization in enhancing the communication between the employees and the upper level management (Shockley-Zalabak, 2014). The more effective will be the communication between the internal stakeholders, the more will be the effective determination of the requirement of the employees. In addition, the leadership role will also get enhanced with having the effective channel of communication. This is due to the reason that, the vision of the upper level management will get properly communicated to the employees. Thus, it will get enhanced with the initiation of effective communication process.

Motivation level of the employees is one of the key aspects of human resource management. Moreover, it will help in gaining competitive advantages from the market along with enhancing the organizational performance. Thus, bio energy limited will also initiate various steps in order to increase the level of motivation of the employees. These will include effective implementation of the employee welfare schemes in the organization (Lazaroiu, 2015). It will create positive impression among the employee, which will in turn enhance the level of motivation for them.

The maintenance of the effective working environment by initiation of the workplace health and safety for the employees will also help to enhance the level of motivation of the employees. The more effective will be the working environment; the motivated will be the employees. Thus, enhanced level of the employees will help to increase the organizational productivity and gaining competitiveness in the market.

Conclusion

Thus, the conclusion that can be drawn from the report is that the organization has the prospect of becoming a success. The main issue the organization is going to face is the acquiring of capital as the plant will require a huge sum of capital. The initial, investment in the industry is huge which means they will have to find investors and provide them with lucrative offers so that they make investment in the plant. The overall planning of the processes in the plant if executed in a right way will produce the desired result. The above mentioned are all necessary for the sustainability of the organization. Thus, the work system that has been mentioned will be the most appropriate system for gaining competitive advantage in the market.
