Apple Inc.: An Overview

Apple Inc. was founded in 1976 by Steve Woznik, Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne. It is an American multinational company headquartered in California. It develops designs as well as sells the computer software’s, consumer electronics, and online services (Arocha, 2017). It mainly targets the premium customers by offering premium quality products. In today’s time, creativity and innovation has become an important aspect of every organization in order to gain the competitive advantage. By adopting these aspects in the industry, Apple Inc. has become one of the most innovative companies in the recent years. The discussion is also carried on the creativity and innovation done by Apple Inc. From these innovations, future development in the industry is also discussed.

Apple is regarded as one of the most innovative company by assuring various developments in products and applying innovative business models. It beat out the Square, Netflix, Amazon, and Tencent who were among the top five companies. The recent iPhone X is the fast selling innovative device of Apple Inc. It also earns the respect for its traditional innovation of Apple TV, Apple Music, Carekit. Creativity means creating some new ideas, approaches and based on that actions are taken. Innovation, on the other hand, is applying those creative ideas in making some useful products or in generating any useful services or business practices in the organization. Therefore, innovation is the essence of creativity. In this way, it can be said that creativity in the organization leads to innovation. In this context, Silverman (2015) stated that Leaders could not simply command a new culture. In addition, the organization has to develop the new routines in order to fit into the current organizational culture that will further embrace the innovation. According to Bryson (2018) collaboration is also one aspect of culture that cultivate the innovation in organizations.

Apple’s Innovation System

For ensuring creativity and innovation, it follows a process. Search is the first step in this process. In this step, it properly research for what it want to improve. It put different fresh and new ideas into the brain. After this, the next step is to prepare. At this step, it creates the environment for creative thinking. It believes in avoiding the negative prompts by taking positive actions. After this, the next step is to create. In this step, it identifies the creative zone by using questioning, visualization, fantasizing, and imaging in order to create some ideas in the mind. The last step is innovating. It states that after coming up with some innovative idea, next comes to test the idea. At this stage, it develops the action plan for turning the idea into reality. Other than various positive aspects, it also faces negative aspects by adopting innovation. Sometimes, people also resist the change that are bringing out of those innovations. There are times when employees or customers do not like the change. Employees in the organization also many times do not understand the innovation that it wants to bring in the organization (Snow, 2014). Creativity and innovation is regarded as the main aspect for organization success. In 21^st century, innovation has become significant in the changing and complex business environment. Drucker (2014) also said that organizations cannot success without taking innovative approach in the organization.

Leadership in Apple Inc. has helped the industry to bring the creativity and innovation among employees of the organization. The supportive environment at Apple Inc. is able to inspire the employees for bringing innovative ideas. It is true that innovation also involves the risks but organization can get the continuous growth that will help in success of the organization. It also has an organization culture for bringing the creative innovation. The culture of the company focuses on bringing high level of innovation that involves the creativity. Innovation and creativity are the main features of Apple organization culture (Amabile and Pratt, 2016). The creativity cultural feature always pertains the new ideas that help in improving the products and its business. The management of Apple also favours the creativity in its employee’s skills, abilities, and knowledge. This feature of the Apple culture assists the company in ensuring creativity especially among those employees who have given the responsibility of product design and development. Thus, creativity in the organization can be observed in the features of iPhones, iPads and Macs (Serrat, 2017). herefore, culture of organization helps in maintainting the company capability to satisfy its customer’s preferences as well as expectation. Taking into consideration innovation, the organization culture at Apple purely supports the innovation. Due to this, Apple is seen as the best innovative company of the world. In order to bring innovation, company trains and motivates its staff so that innovation can come in individual performance. The corporate culture in Apple facilitates the innovation that is the essential element of Apple Inc. (Meyer, 2018).

The research done by Dara Alami stated that from the edge of insolvency to the world’s most profitable company, Apple Inc. received various benefits by doing innovation. The focus on innovative designs as well as strategies helped the company to get various customers. Due to launching of innovative products such as Iphone, Ipod, it has become the leader in the industry. It also helped the Apple Inc. to change the future of Apple industry (Dawson and Andriopoulos, 2014). In 2007 also, the main emphasis in innovation has helped the Apple to come back from the ruins. By adding the innovative ideas in the industry, Apple is adding various new features and creating the new hardware. Innovation helps the industry to avoid the complex features. It is clear that creativity and innovation are two major drivers of the prosperity in Apple Inc.

It is true that innovation is the essential element to ensure the growth in future.  Innovation has helped the Apple Inc. to coordinate with the changes related to market, environment, as well as demand of customers. It is taken as the important factor for improving the performance of organization in a competitive business environment. Through the various innovations done by Apple, it is proved that technology is the top most priority of people in today’s time. Apple’s unique business strategy on innovation helps the company to generate unique designs, development of their own operating systems, application software’s, and hardware’s. Due to innovation, Apple has created a unique reputation in the electronic industry all over the world. Apple Inc. believes that serving the customers with high quality experience helps in attracting as well as retaining the customers. By adopting innovative approach, it is able to succeed in the market in spite of high competition. By taking the innovative practices in industry, Apple has won various awards in the category of music and gadgets. In very less time, their store is able to see the 140,000 applications. Among them, users have downloaded the 3 billion. The main reason of success behind the Apple industry is open organization environment that help its employees to welcome the creative ideas from its employees. The availability of enough resource in the industry has also helped the company to take various new initiatives. It has also led the Apple Inc. to build its strong brand value for its products.

Various future developments can be done in Apple Inc. by taking innovative approaches. Apple Inc. will get the more increment in sales which will further results in more profit for the company. Both these things will lead to the more market share in the industry. It is true that in today’s time customers prefer those products that are more innovative and bring new products all the time. Apple Inc. is the best example of technological innovation for the customers. Creativity and innovation is the major aspect on which company focuses. This is the main reason Apple Inc. is growing at greater phase in the market. In future, it can gain competitive advantage due to the innovations that it is doing in industry. In addition to this, it can also do the expansion in profitable country due to reputation of its brand. Companies having more brand image can get various opportunities that are lying in various countries. In this way, companies can do various developments in future by today’s innovation. The successful innovation of its phones every year taps the premium customers. Due to the high disposable income of people in various countries, it has targeted the mainly rich people who can pay the higher prices for its products (Nagle & Müller, 2017). In a report, it is founded that in the upcoming years, it will launch the virtual reality handset that clearly shows that its innovative capacity in recent year is helping the company to come up with new changes. The main innovation of Apple named “ARKit” will become a boom in the Apple industry in the coming years (Dormehl, 2017).

Due to its innovation on various new products, it will also able to get the diversified and talented workforce in future. This will assist the company in its future development. It is true that efficient and talented workforce can help the company to ensure development in the industry (Liu, Zhai and Chen, 2018). Apple can do it due to its current innovation. Talented workforces are also likely to join those organizations that will have the more growth in the future. Innovation leaves a positive impact in the industry by adopting innovation as major aspect. It helps the Apple Inc. to improve its products and services in an effective manner.

In the limelight of above discussion, it can be concluded that Apple Inc. is one of the biggest company by taking various innovative approaches in its industry. In today’s time, it becomes essential for companies to come up with innovative ideas in order to achieve competitive advantage. Various benefits and future developments are also directly linked by the innovation. Due to the innovation, more customers will buy the product and stick to its brand. Apple Inc. will also able to get the various benefits by doing innovation currently. It will easily able to expand its market in any country due to its brand reputation. In this way, creativity ideas as well as innovation help the company to grow more profitable.
