In order to succeed in the global economy, more organizations are relying on the organically isolated workforce. Those companies have been building teams in offering the best purposeful expertise from across the world, united with deep, local information of the most capable markets. They draw on the settlement of international assortment, bringing people together from different cultures with diverse work knowledge and diverse insightful on strategic and organizational challenges. All this assist the multinational organizations in competing in the present business environment. Organizations have been using global teams for the purpose of easily addressing the demands and requirements of the markets. Global research and improvement teams have been creating benefits from the scientific expertise that is generally site specific and might not be accessible in one location. Increase in the environment of global business teams are being formed by the organizations for crossing the national borders, including people from various countries. Most global teams are expected to augment the efficiency in operations along with pooling resources together. Global teams do face certain challenges, with the main challenge being mainly faced by the business managers. However, instances are there of the global teams failing in attaining the organizational goals. Lack of trust among the team members along with miscommunication plays major part in the failure of the global teams. The key issue lies in the fact of accessing strengths of the individuals along with minimizing the losses that are being incurred for reasons like barriers in language, difficulties in communication, work style variation and other misunderstandings (Eaton 2017).

This research study would be taking into account the challenges faced by the global teams in completion of successful projects and their ways of tackling difficult situations that crops up midway. It would also be taking into account the perspective of the business managers in handling of the global teams and the challenges that lies in maintaining proper coordination and cooperation within the global team members (Ferdinand and Kitchin 2012).

There is nothing more exhilarating than being part of the team that one feels esteemed, motivated, and comfortable within a team where one can distribute knowledge and learn from each other for achieving the results. The question that crops up is how to generate and maintain a dream team, a team that would be harvesting greater success, preserving friendly and promoting environment. Handling of a team that is geographically dispersed is one of the daunting tasks as contrast to the conventional team. It is certainly easier in dealing with a team that is meeting everyday than a team that might never have any sort of physical communication (Goetsch and Davis 2014).

Research Objectives

During the time of ascertaining a virtual team, organizations require to make certain that people with required skills and apt knowledge is being hired along with proper implementation of knowledge. Efficient leadership is required in building and maintaining of a thriving virtual team (Hitt, Ireland and Hoskisson 2012).

Managing a global team has been the hot topic in the recent years with the rise in the internet and globalization. Globalization has generated the requirement for the virtual teams whereas internet has made it capable for the virtual teams to tie bodily together.

This is a broad topic and many aspects could be investigated. The key objective of this study is to evaluate the ways of managing a virtual team in effective manner. The significant goal of this study is to offer the reader with certain consistent information and strategies on implementing and managing the virtual teams (Tsui and Lau 2012). 

There are several studies being performed on the ways of building and managing virtual teams for focusing on the factor of trust and technology, though there seems to be certain lack of information related to the qualities of leadership for managing efficiently virtual teams.

There are several factors that contribute to the effectiveness of teams. Clarification of objectives, technology and formation of teams are the significant factors in enabling team success. The main focus of this study would be on identifying the important skills for enabling leadership within global teams. Therefore, object clarification and formation of teams are a significant part of leadership that would be included in this study. The technology plays a vital role in global environment since the communication part is being done through electronic media, though this study does not take into account that issue.

It is impossible for an individual to perform all the tasks on their own, supporting and guiding the other people required for accomplishing the complicated assignments. Sometimes the terminologies of groups and team are being used interchangeably even with the differences that survives between the two. Development of the team along with team work is a bigger challenge for any sort of organization. For the leader of the team to successfully navigate his team in the right direction is absolutely required for understanding the several stages of the development of team and their role in every phase of the development of the team.

Globalizations have been forcing the organizations to alter essentially in the way they perform business. For the organizations to gain competitive advantage they must be able to reshape on continuous manner in the global environment. Virtual team comes to the rescue of the organizations in such situations. Global team managers have the responsibility of facilitating and managing the association among the team members with the assistance of proper technology enabling effective communication.

Scope of Research

The reason behind selecting this topic is the growing trend of globalization in almost every single aspect of business management studies.  There has been no clear concept in the previous studies so far. Due to diversity of culture and cohesion in the organizations there is a huge diversity among the people who have been continuously working together. Hence, managing global teams will be a matter of serious concern.

This chapter is going to illustrate the entire procedure in which the research will be conducted. Research methodology can be defined as the process that is used to retrieve data and information in order to make business decision.  Research methodology consists of publication of the research and the various ingredients such as research design, research philosophy, research approach, research technique, survey, questionnaires, research publication, ethical consideration and many more.  In order to execute a research, proper methodology needs to be designed in a logical manner. While conducting a research, a researcher ought to take the historical as well as present contemporary information into consideration. It also constitutes ethical consideration of data collection.

Research approach can be described something as the mode of investigation that a researcher chooses while conducting the research.  As a matter of fact, there is a clear understanding of how the research is going to be taken into consideration.  Research approach can be addressed in two different approaches:

1. Inductive Research Approach
2. Deductive Research Approach

It is the topic that is used to comprehend the procedure through which a research is likely to be carried out.  Inductive approach is used when there is need to test the subject with the help of statistical data.  Depending on the proximity of the retrieved data, it can be understood. With the help of the retrieved data a research decision may be concluded.

On the contrary, deductive approach is used in order to validate existing theories pertaining to the chosen subject for investigation. This is devised through the idea of human behavior in a society. According to Popping, the use of hypothesis and the urge for validating hypothesis through theorization involves deductive research approach (Baskerville and Wood-Harper 2016).

In order to conduct this research, a deductive approach is going to be used as a hypothetic statement has already been made. The aim of this research shall be validating the hypothesis depending on the data collected during the investigation.

Research design could be defined as the framework within which a research is likely to be conducted. Research design can be divided into three different segments:

1. Exploratory Research Design
2. Explanatory Research Design

Literature Review

In case of exploratory research design it could be said that there is no certain hypothesis on the avenue where the topic is particularly chosen.  Due to lack of well maintained hypothesis, a researcher seeks to delve into the topics that would be a matter of exploration.

On the contrary, there are few occurrences in the society or in a business realm in a repetitive manner.  Eventually, in terms of descriptive research there would be a need of investigation of the already existing hypothesis pertaining to the chosen topic. In order to authenticate more valid idea on the existing hypothesis a descriptive method is chosen (Maxwell 2012).

In order to conduct this research, the descriptive method is going to be used. The reason behind choosing so, is to get the detailed idea on globalization, global economy and global team.

The mode of retrieving data from different authentic sources is known as data collection. Data collection method- depending on the sources- is categorized in to two different segments

1. Primary Data Collection
2. Secondary Data Collection

Primary data collection is used when the data are retrieved from the direct sources such as the working employees, the customers, the managers and the people who have fisrt hand experience of the hosen topic. Data collection tools such as interview, survey, questionnaires are used during the retrieval of the primary data. Primary data are often considered as authentic as they are collected directly from the people with experience.

On the other hand, the secondary data are collected from the peer reviewed articles and the journals, blogs; government published statistical tables and papers and so on. In order to ensure the authenticity of the collected data, the process of rejection and acceptance is going to be followed.

While conducting this particular research both primary and secondary data collection methods are going to be taken into consideration. A set of questionnaire would be designed that would be mailed to the chosen respondents. According to the responses the data would be analyzed.

This is the process of analyzing the retrieved data.  The collected data would be formulated through charts and tables. During the data analysis excel would associate the quantification of the collected data. While conducting the research both quantitative and qualitative data analysis would be used.
